Tuesday, July 18, 2017

All UC Santa Cruz investigators and outside institutions are now welcome to utilize the Shared Stem Cell Facility (SSCF) in Sinsheimer for tissue culture. The facility is an advanced tissue culture laboratory that enables work in a sterile environment on cell cultures and non-NIH approved human embryonic stem cell (hESC) lines. The facility consists of a laboratory for embryonic stem cell growth and manipulation and staff with expertise in experimental design, protocol development, and data analysis. The suite includes a core cell culture room and adjoining rooms for reagent preparation and sample processing and analysis. The facility offers BioSafety level 2 culture rooms, with spaces that are dedicated as needed to viral transductions and other procedures warranting a higher level of containment. The lab also houses CO2 incubators, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, microscopes, and a Biorad TC-10 cell counter. This state-of-the-art cell culture lab also features an IVF hood and a Hypoxia incubator for specialized cell culture applications. The IBSC Flow Cytometry Core and Life Sciences Microscopy Center are also open to all UCSC investigators and outside users. Please visit our website to learn more about the core facilities.
